Blues legend John Terry returns to Chelsea in new capacity after leaving Leicester City
The news of Blues legend John Terry’s return to Chelsea has been greeted with joy among fans of the club, many of whom have taken to social media to express their happiness at the former captain’s recent arrival.
John Terry teams up with Chelsea in new role
Terry joined Chelsea’s academy as a coach after a spell as an assistant coach to Brendan Rodgers at relegated Leicester City in the 2022/23 season.
The former Blues captain played for Chelsea for almost his entire career, spending only two of his 20 active senior years outside Stamford Bridge after graduating from the club’s academy.
He played 717 times for Chelsea before leaving the club in 2017 to join Aston Villa, and he has now returned to nurture the talent at the same academy that nurtured him as a fledgling footballer.
Fans ecstatic over Terry appointment
Terry announced his return to Chelsea on his Twitter page, stating that he was delighted to return to his old stomping ground, where he rose to legendary status after a fulfilling career.
His announcement was greeted by praise from fans who were elated to see the former England international return to Chelsea, which they consider to be his home.
Many affirmed his status as a club legend; others considered his signing the most important of the summer transfer window; and some predicted a great future for the former captain, including a prospective role as coach of the senior side.
Terry will begin work with the academy, hoping to continue the good work that has seen Chelsea produce stars like himself, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Declan Rice, and Mason Mount.
