Enzo Maresca has disclosed how Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali reacted to the club’s 3-0 success at West Ham.
Chelsea's co-owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, temporarily set aside their reported differences to celebrate the team's 3-0 victory over West Ham.
What happened?
The success, marked by a Nicolas Jackson first-half brace and Cole Palmer, showcased a West London side full of style and energy as they notched their third Premier League win this term.
Head coach Enzo Maresca was pleased not only with the win but also with the presence of both owners, who joined the team in the dressing room to offer their congratulations.
What Chelsea’s co-owners said
The Italian manager emphasised that victories are always appreciated, especially when the owners can witness the team's success firsthand.
“Not only today, it’s always good when we win games for (the owners), especially because they were both here,” said Maresca. “We can give them some good moments. They were in the changing room, they were all happy.”
The match itself saw the West Londoners dominate from the early minutes, capitalising on West Ham's defensive lapses to secure a comfortable lead.
While acknowledging the team's positive trajectory, Maresca cautioned against complacency, emphasising the need for continuous improvement.
“I think we’re on the right path,” he said. “We’re in the right direction, but it’s a long journey. We won today and we’re in a good moment, it looks like everything is fine. But not everything is fine. We could attack better, defend better.
“For me, the main target in this moment is to see how we progress as a team and I think we are improving many things, even if today we could manage the game much better.
“Sometimes we need to give more passes and keep the ball. We are in a rush and we want to attack immediately. But overall I think we deserved to win.”
