Chelsea's new interim manager explains what he has been tasked to do in his given role.
Chelsea's new interim manager, Bruno Saltor, has explained what he has been charged to do by the club.
The 42-year-old took over the role of Chelsea boss following the sacking of Graham Potter after 31 games in charge.
What Saltor said
Saltor explained his role, suggesting himself as a relay between two permanent managers.
The Spaniard revealed that his assuming the role was a decision by Chelsea and Potter, which is consistent with the club statement, which says that Potter will be part of a collaborative effort for a smooth transition.
He said he is tasked with keeping the process going before Chelsea makes a decision on a new permanent manager.
Saltor will take charge of Chelsea's match against Liverpool tomorrow and will remain in charge pending the announcement of a new permanent manager.

New owners same old Chelsea
Graham Potter becomes the shortest-serving permanent manager for Chelsea this century.
Although Chelsea are currently 11th on the Premier League table and 12 points adrift of the top four, they are in the quarter-final of the Champions League, and Bruno's role is to ensure that the positives from a rather disappointing Potter era are not undone.
Chelsea sack Potter
As we reported in detail here, Graham Potter's tenure at Chelsea is finally over, and no one can say they did not see this coming. The club sits 11th in the Premier League, and a dismal run that started when the English manager was appointed has forced the club's decision-makers to make the expensive decision to cut ties with the former Brighton boss.

Chelsea part ways with head coach Graham Potter following poor run of games
Despite paying a world record fee for the ex-Brighton man, the results—or lack thereof—from Potter meant that the decision was a matter of when, not if.
The Blues currently sit 11th on the table after a dismal run of only three wins in the last 11 games, and the team's Stamford Bridge loss to Aston Villa proved to be the last straw for Todd Boehly and other Chelsea executives.
