Chelsea set to sign Petrovic
Although they have already made a signing in the goalkeeper position this summer transfer window with the acquisition of Robert Sanchez from Brighton, the exits of both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy meant Chelsea were expected to make an additional signing in the position.
According to reports, they have reportedly reached an agreement of $17.5 million plus $2.2 million with the MLS side for Petrovic, and he is expected to sign a seven-year contract with the option of an additional year.
What Brad Friedel said
Retired American goalkeeper Friedel, who enjoyed a long Premier League career across many clubs, including Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa had rave reviews for the imminent Chelsea signing.
According to SportsKeeda, the former Galatasaray shot-stopper believes Petrovic is the best goalkeeper in Major League Soccer by a considerable distance.
"Tremendous worker and shot-stopper. Very rarely leaves bad rebounds, exceptional at holding shots,” Friedel said about Petrovic.
"He has a wonderful career ahead of him and has been the best goalkeeper in the MLS by a country mile. I've mentioned him to quite a few PL teams!"
