Chelsea’s inevitable summer clearout is gaining momentum as a notable player has confessed that he wants a move to Barcelona
Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confessed to being open to a return to Barcelona in the summer after failing to impose himself on the Blues’ team.
Aubameyang desperate to leave Chelsea after disastrous spell
The Gabon international only just joined Chelsea from Barcelona at the start of the 2022/23 season in a £10.3 million deal, but is already willing to return to Spain to escape the torrid season he has had in London.
The forward has played only 15 Premier League matches, starting only five times for the Blues with only one goal in the league and three in all competitions.
Aubameyang's time at Chelsea has been desperately poor, typified by the former Arsenal man being dropped from Chelsea’s Champions League squad in the knock-out stages and the 33-year-old forward looks set to leave Stamford Bridge for the greener pastures of Catalonia in the summer.
Aubameyang open to Barcelona move
Aubameyang has already spoken of his desire to return to Barcelona where he experienced a resurgence in the half-a-season he spent at the club, scoring 11 goals in 17 La Liga appearances.
Speaking with a fan in a social media interview, Aubameyang said he was ready to join Barcelona in the summer, but would have to wait on other factors.
He said, "I would like to return to Barca, but we will see what happens.”
It is believed that Aubamatenag could be willing to go as far as cancelling his Chelsea contract which still has a year to run in order to facilitate a move away from the club after failing to make an impression with the Blues despite playing under three managers.
