The Blues looked to go two for two after beating Bournemouth last week, but despite a Raheem Sterling brace, Frank Lampard's side could only manage a point against the Tricky Trees.

How it happened

The West London clubs returned to winning ways last week against Bournemouth after a run of six defeats, but they failed to clinch consecutive victories for the first time since March as they dropped points against the Tricky Trees.

They suffered a relatively early deficit when the man on fire, Awoniyi, connected with a Renan Lodi delivery to open a 13th-minute lead.

Chelsea's performance improved progressively during the game, and on returning from the break, they grabbed an equaliser and even went ahead.

Raheem Sterling's quick reaction made it 1-1 in the 51st minute before Ruben Loftus-Cheek set him up to put Chelsea ahead seven minutes later.

Their lead will not last for long, however, as the former Liverpool man grabbed his brace four minutes after Chelsea went ahead, finishing brilliantly after Orel Mangala played him through.

Lampard's charges had a late flurry of attacks as they attempted to regain their lead, but Steve Cooper's side held on for what could be a crucial point in their fight against the drop.
