Nigerian fans advise Osimhen to steer clear of Chelsea when making his next career move.
Victor Osimhen replied to a post that urged him to come to Chelsea, and this excited fans of the club; conversely, other fans of the player who are not of Blue affiliation or are aware of the recent history of centre-forwards at the club have pleaded with the Napoli man to steer clear of the Stamford Bridge.
What happened
As Pulse Sports reported, Osimhen has consistently been linked with a Premier League move due to his impressive performances in Serie A over the past 12 months.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential suitors, but Chelsea appear to be the strongest candidate for his signature.
On Osimhen's 25th birthday, a fan wrote on social media platform X, formerly Twitter: “Happy Birthday, Victor Osimhen, please come and rescue Chelsea soon,” alongside an image of the striker as a youngster in a Chelsea shirt.
Osimhen then replied with two heart emojis, along with a praying emoji, and this sent fans of the club into a frenzy, as it hinted that the CAF POTY was not opposed to a move to the Bridge.
Nigerians beg Osimhen not to go to Chelsea
The list of strikers that have failed to live up to billing since the turn of the millennium is comprehensive, even sparking myths of a curse hanging over the number nine jersey.
Although neither Armando Broja nor Nicolas Jackson are of the quality or status of failed Chelsea strikers of the past like Andrey Shevchenko, Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Fernando Torres, etc., they seem to be towing a similar lane.
Chelsea are also having a subpar campaign for the second season in a row, and for these reasons, Osimhen is warned to avoid Chelsea when making the imminent big move.
“Chelsea abeg leave this guy alone make una no end him career,” one fan said. “Please don't give him number 9 even if he decides to join,” another, fearing the alleged curse on the No. 9 jersey, added.
A third said, “Chelsea will destroy his career. If I am lying, let Osimhen ask Madueke Ugochukwu and Chukwuemeka. They will explain better.” A fourth said, “They said the same about Jackson, Enzo, Mudryk, Caicedo, and Nkunku, and now they are looking for another talent to destroy and put blame on.”
