The Blues' star forward will not face any punishment despite a video appearing to show Jackson hitting a Nottingham Forest player in the face
Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson has what could have been a lengthy suspension for his involvement in a heated moment during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
However, both the Blues and Tricky Trees now face charges from the England Football Association for failing to control their players during the match's fiery final moments.
Jackson avoids FA punishment
Despite footage showing Jackson shoving Forest defender Morato in the face during a scuffle late in the game, the FA has decided not to take further action against the Chelsea striker.
The incident, which occurred after Jackson had already been substituted, was reviewed by VAR and included in referee Chris Kavanagh's match report even though the Senegalese forward did not face any repercussions.
It was determined that the action did not meet the threshold for violent conduct, so Jackson will not face retrospective punishment.
The altercation took place after Forest’s Neco Williams shoved Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella into head coach Enzo Maresca, sparking a mass brawl between both sets of players, but Jackson's involvement, including what some called a "slap" on Morato, was quickly shared on social media.
FA charges Chelsea and Nottingham Forest for player confrontation
While Jackson escaped punishment, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest were not so lucky as the FA charged both clubs for failing to ensure their players behaved in an appropriate manner during the 88th-minute clash.
In a statement, the FA said: “It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way.” Both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest now have until October 10 to respond to the charges.
The match saw three players booked following the confrontation: Neco Williams for Forest, as well as Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill for Chelsea.
Chelsea’s six yellow cards in total triggered an automatic £50,000 fine, their second of the season after being fined £25,000 for a similar offence against Bournemouth.
