Chilwell wants Chelsea players to take charge and turn around their bad spell
Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has spoken about the club's recent poor form and believes that the players need to take some responsibility if they are ever going to turn the club’s fortune around.
Chilwell says Chelsea have not been good enough
Chilwell was on the pitch for most of the game in Chelsea’s last Premier League game which ended in a defeat at home to the side 20th in the league, and speaking after the game, he recognised that the performance was not befitting a club of Chelsea’s stature, and said the players were the only ones who could fix the situation.
Speaking with Chelsea’s media team, Chilwel said, “Again, not good enough. I can stand here and say we created chances, like I said in Dortmund, but it doesn’t really mean anything. We need to win these games.”
“It is easy to say, but we really do have to work hard and turn this around, and the only people that can do that is ourselves.”
Chilwell then charged his teammates to put in the work and help Chelsea come out of their recent slump, saying they had between now and the next game against Tottenham to work together and fix the problems they are facing.
“We need to work hard, It is hard to get into it, in terms of what we did right and wrong today, but we have time now until our next game to work hard.”
'It's a pretty flat dressing room' - Chilwell
The English defender also spoke about the mood in the dressing room and explained the players are suffering as much as the fans because they also want to be in the best shape, competing for titles as they did in recent seasons.
“It is a pretty flat dressing room at the moment. It is never nice for a very competitive group that wants to win stuff. Some of us a few years ago tasted winning a major trophy and then to be in this situation now, does not feel good at all.” he said.
Finally, he extended his sympathies to fans and said that he understood how they felt because he and his Chelsea teammates also feel the same way.

Chelsea face Tottenham next in the Premier League, looking to end a run of five games without a win, as the club remains adamant about sticking to manager Graham Potter.
