Engesha says she knows how it feels to work hard all season and score goals for fun, only to get nothing in return.
In February this year, former Vihiga Queens Striker Terry Engesha pledged to award the 2022/2023 Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) and the Women’s Division 1 League (WD1) top scorers on her personal Facebook page.
Engesha, who now plies her trade professionally for Chinese club Hyundai Steel Red Angels, has lived up to her promise, awarding both the top scorers of the respective divisions following the end of the season.
Irene Madalina was named the KWPL top scorer, while 14-year old Valerie Nekesa, who plays for Madira Soccer Assassins, was named the KWD1’s top markswoman.

Engesha contacted Assassins Team Manager Sharon Bulimo, “shaking” her MPESA account in the process on behalf of Nekesa.
Bulimo , who is also a teacher at Madira Girls Secondary School and also served as the FKF Vihiga County Women Representative, confirmed receiving a “substantial amount.”
Pulse Sports Kenya could not confirm the exact amount that Nekesa received, but understands that it will be enough for the schoolgirl to buy herself brand new boots and have enough remaining for pocket money.
