Pochettino accused of disrespecting Thiago Silva by Chelsea squad
A recent report reveals that the Chelsea squad believes Mauricio Pochettino disrespected Thiago Silva.
Christopher Nkunku’s injury-laden debut Chelsea campaign
Last summer’s arrival from RB Leipzig showed his goalscoring prowess in the off-season before sustaining a knee injury in the club's final game of preseason against Borussia Dortmund, ruling out the Frenchman until December.
Nkunku netted two Premier League goals in defeats to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool before suffering a setback in the EFL Cup final loss to Jurgen Klopp's men in late February, ruling out the forward for the past two months.
What Pochettino said about Nkunku’s return
The 26-year-old has been limited to 10 appearances in all competitions in 2023-24, but the Chelsea boss has disclosed that an 11th could be in the offing, simultaneously revealing Levi Colwill’s possible return.
"They were training today (Wednesday), Pochettino explained before facing Tottenham Hotspur. "We were preparing for the game tomorrow, doing some set-pieces, tactical work, meetings, and they are nearly there.
"They are on the line but they have still not crossed the line. Maybe for Sunday against West Ham, we hope they will be ready. But still, we will wait for tomorrow and then Friday before deciding if they can cope with the competition. I think they are so close to being available."
What comes next for Chelsea?
Chelsea could move above West Ham into eighth if they avoid defeat in Thursday’s London derby against Tottenham.
A victory takes Pochettino's men two points clear of the Hammers and cut seventh-placed Newcastle United's five-point lead to two heading into the campaign's conclusion.
