Former Gor Mahia official claims KRG The Don's promised donation to the team has not yet been received.

A former Gor Mahia official has raised concerns over the alleged delay in fulfilling a promised donation to the club by music sensation Karuga Kimani, popularly known as KRG The Don or Bugaa.

Despite a generous pledge of Ksh 650,000 to the players following their 3-1 defeat to Kenya Police at the Police Sacco Stadium the funds have reportedly not been received.

Sally Bollo, a former treasurer of Gor Mahia and someone still closely linked to the club, expressed her disappointment over the situation.

"Promising a generous donation of KES 650,000 to Gor Mahia players is commendable by KRG The Don. However, rumor has it that the funds may take many years to materialize. Anyway, someone should tell him that it's essential to honor commitments promptly," Bollo remarked on her official Facebook page.

She further emphasized the importance of integrity and trust within football, a sport that demands such virtues far beyond the glitzy allure of showbiz.

The saga unfolds against the backdrop of a challenging match that saw Gor Mahia's 19-game unbeaten streak in the league come to an abrupt end.

Despite taking an early lead through Austin Odhiambo, the team was ultimately bested by a resilient Kenya Police squad, spurred on by a dramatic comeback led by former Gor Mahia players Kenneth Muguna and Tito Okello.

The aftermath of the match was a somber scene in the Gor Mahia dressing room. Amid the disappointment, KRG the Don reached out to club officials despite the circumstances, offered words of encouragement to the players, and promised a financial incentive to help lift the spirits of the beleaguered players.

KRG's message to the players was one of resilience and forward-looking optimism.

"As men, sometimes it is about falling down, getting back up and looking forward to the next game. Life is like that, you go down, stand up, dust yourself and look forward to the next game. When you wake up tomorrow, the aim is at the price. Use the pain from the defeat to fuel you to do well tomorrow," he said.

Efforts to reach the current Gor Mahia officials for a comment on the matter were unsuccessful, as calls went unanswered.

As Gor Mahia prepares to face Ulinzi Stars in their next fixture, the focus remains on bouncing back and building on their current league position.
