Chelsea climbed to 8th place in the PL standings after defeating Fulham 1-0 in a feisty affair at Stamford Bridge.
The young talent, who has taken the Premier League by storm since his £42.5 million move, shared details about a conversation with Pep Guardiola that forced him out of the Etihad door, shedding light on the ultimatum that prompted his move.
Palmer reveals Guardiola ultimatum
Palmer, who has become Chelsea's talisman and secured a spot in the England national team, revealed that he initially sought a loan move to gain more first-team experience. However, Guardiola presented him with a stark choice: "you're either staying or you're getting sold." This unexpected ultimatum left Palmer with limited options, and he eventually found his way to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking about his departure from Manchester City, Palmer told the Daily Mail, "I was a bit confused why they wouldn't let me go on loan, but [then] I said I wanted to go to Chelsea, and I'm glad it's turned out the way it has."
Palmer relishing special Chelsea move
Since joining Chelsea, Palmer has had a remarkable season, earning praise for his instant impact, breaking into the England squad, and becoming one of the league's most exciting young players. Palmer's transition to Chelsea has not only elevated his career but has also provided him with the platform and responsibility that he craved. He explained, "One is a project, and one has established players. Our project is a young project. There are a lot of young players, and I thought I would fit the project well."
Despite his on-field success, Palmer acknowledged the challenges of adapting to life away from Manchester, expressing the difficulty of being away from family and friends. However, he believes that the move has helped him grow both personally and professionally.
The talented midfielder also discussed the unexpected support from music icon Sir Elton John, who praised his move to Chelsea and highlighted the benefits of gaining more playing time. Palmer revealed that his family was ecstatic about the acknowledgment, with his mom sharing the news in their group chat.

Joining Chelsea has not only provided Palmer with an opportunity to showcase his abilities but has also allowed him to work with renowned manager Mauricio Pochettino. As the season progresses, Cole Palmer's stellar performances continue to impress, making him a rising star in English football.
