BEACH SOCCER Confusion, disorganization continues to dent Uganda Beach Soccer League’s image

The disorganization in the 2023 Uganda Beach Soccer League continued on match day 12 when the top-table clash between St. Lawrence University and Jinja Lions failed to take place at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

According to the official match day fixtures, the match was scheduled to open the day at 10 AM, but it never took place.

The UBSA chairman competitions committee Bernard Mukasa told Pulse Sports that the match failed to take place because both teams were not present.

“The teams arrived late,” he confirmed to this website.

“Our rules provide that we give up to 30 minutes and then either award a walkover, but none was around, so we shall have to reschedule the match to another day,” he added.

Punctuality

However, in an interesting turn, both teams honoured their other assignments on the day against Grace Church.

A member of the Jinja Lions team refutes Mukasa’s statements and notes that the team was present on time.

The chairman competitions committee says that “a team can be available on the premises but they’re considered officially present if the referees have inspected them”.

Pulse can confirm that the Jinja side was on the pitch in time but the referees and UBSA officials arrived late as well.

Results from the weekend;

MS Sand Lions 5-3 Kiringente

Mutoola 5-1 Kiringente

MS Sand Lions 3-3 Jinja Lions

Wolves 7-4 Buganda Royal

Wolves 0-3 Mutoola
