Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte claims he could have started a dysnasty if they landed his key transfer targets.
Antonio Conte, the former Chelsea commander who steered the Blues to Premier League glory in his debut season, has stirred the footballing world with a bold claim. According to Conte, Chelsea could have established a reign of dominance within English football had they secured signings of defensive stalwart Virgil van Dijk and striking sensation Romelu Lukaku back in 2017.
Despite his successful stint at Stamford Bridge, which saw him clinch the league title and an FA Cup, Conte's revelation sheds light on what could have been a blue dynasty under his guidance.

Conte's Vision of Chelsea's Missed Dynasty
"It’s not easy. [Pep] Guardiola is the best coach in the world. And then when you can match the best coach in the world with a club that can back you and can invest to bring in important players to improve the team every season because they want to stay at the top of the world, then it is very, very difficult to compete at the same level," Conte reflected during his interview with The Telegraph.
The Italian tactician's candid insights into his tenure reveal a sense of what might have been, highlighting the critical importance of backing from the club in the transfer market to sustain and build upon success.
After the triumph of his inaugural season, Conte was poised to elevate Chelsea into an era of unparalleled success, had his transfer wishes been granted. "My history says that I always arrived at my clubs in a difficult situation with problems. I always build. After my first season at Chelsea, when we won the title, we could have become dominant in England.
We spoke with Lukaku and Van Dijk, and with those two important players we could have changed the situation,” Conte lamented.
The What-ifs of Chelsea's Transfer Misses
The narrative of Chelsea's near-misses in the transfer market under Conte's reign is a tale of what could have dramatically shifted the club's trajectory. Lukaku, who was tearing up the Premier League with Everton, and Van Dijk, shining at Southampton, were both within Chelsea's grasp, according to Conte.
However, Chelsea's failure to secure these key signings led them down a different path. While Antonio Rudiger, who was signed instead of Van Dijk, became a significant figure at Chelsea, the same success was not mirrored by Alvaro Morata, who was brought in to fill the void left by the club's inability to sign Lukaku.
