Brazil to meet Uruguay after Colombia
The Samba boys were forced to settle for a draw by a determined Colombia team in an action-packed encounter, a result that sets up a mouth-watering last-eight clash with Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay.
Brazil needed a victory to avoid the prospect of meeting the in-form Uruguay, but they found a difficult obstacle in Colombia, who extended their unbeaten run to 26 matches, though it did mark the end of their 10-game winning streak.
Daniel Munoz's first-half strike for Colombia cancelled out an impressive early free-kick from Brazil's Raphinha, and to make matters worse for the five-time World Cup winners, they will be without Real Madrid star Vinicius for the quarter-final after he picked up another booking.
The clash also saw plenty of VAR interventions, with Davinson Sanchez's disallowed goal in the second half the most controversial decision of the explosive encounter.
Brazil's failure to top the group means they will now face a stern test against a Uruguay side that has been in impressive form throughout the tournament, led by the experienced Marcelo Bielsa.
The quarter-final clash promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams desperate to secure a semi-final berth and keep their Copa America dreams alive.
