This year, even higher participation is expected, with the tournament draw expected to follow a similar format to the last edition, with teams drawn into ties based on their geographical zones.
The Uganda Crested Cranes overcame a tough challenge in the first round of WAFCON qualifiers, defeating Ethiopia on penalties.
Remarkably, they secured their second-ever appearance at the WAFCON without even kicking a ball, as Kenya withdrew from the qualifiers.
