The Uyo-based club has finally lived up to its name after rising above its visitors Sunshine.
Akwa Ibom side Dakkada FC have ended their losing streak following a hard-earned victory over Sunshine Stars in Uyo.
Dakkada defeated their visitors 2-1 to put an end to a run of five matches without a win or a point in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, on Wednesday.
Sunshine’s Ejike Uzoechi set them on the path of victory when he netted an own goal to put them ahead after the hour mark.
But 13 minutes later, Sunshine Stars were level as Udom Edem Ekerette equalised to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes to play.
Abdoulaye Karim Doudou became the hero of the day when he scored what turned out to be the winner two minutes after Ekerette’s leveller for the Stars.
What the result means
With the victory, Dakkada have now registered their first win in five matches, putting an end to a run of five successive defeats which saw them drop into relegation waters.
It was also their second win of the season but isn’t enough to get them off the danger zone as they remain deep in trouble.
Despite the win today, the Uyo side currently sits ninth on the ten-team table in Group A, with just seven points from a possible 24.
For their visitors, Sunshine Stars, they are fourth on 12 points.
