The Uruguayan striker has endured a poor individual season at Liverpool, and he is ready to leave behind his struggles at the club.
The International break has come at the perfect time for Nunez, who has endured a poor week with the Reds, first seeing his penalty saved against PSG as they crashed out of the Champions League, and then seeing the team lose to Newcastle in the EFL Cup final.
The striker has struggled for playing time under new manager Arne Slot, and has contributed seven goals across all competitions.
With all this going on, he admitted that he is happy the international break has come at this time, and he can get away from all that is happening at Liverpool.

Nunez - ‘To forget a little’
Speaking to El Pais on why he is happy with this month’s international break, he said: “To forget a little about what’s happening there, and besides, there’s nothing more beautiful for a player than wearing your country’s jersey”.
“I know I’m not performing as well as I should; it’s difficult because when you’re doing well, like when I came on against PSG, your confidence changes, with the idea of being able to break it in the next match. But then you get a slump, and I’m always there to help my teammates when I come back to the national team.”
There are rumours of Nunez departing the club at the end of this campaign, having joined for a hefty fee in 2022.
