Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is set to return to football after one year out of the game.
Former Manchester United shot-stopper David De Gea is in advanced talks to join Italian club Genoa on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old Spanish international has been without a club since leaving United last summer, following a failed contract extension negotiation.
After a 12-year stint at Old Trafford, where he made a record 545 appearances and won five major trophies, including the Premier League title, FA Cup, and Europa League, De Gea is poised to revive his career in Italy.

David De Gea close to joining Genoa
According to The Athletic, De Gea has been presented with various options, including offers from Saudi Arabia and the United States, but appears to be leaning towards a move to Genoa.
Notably, De Gea's last competitive appearance dates back to over 400 days ago, in United's 2023 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
His impending move to Genoa signals a return to football for the decorated goalkeeper, who broke Peter Schmeichel's record for most clean sheets at United and became the club's highest appearance-maker for a goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, United boss Erik ten Hag has cried out for more signings as he believes the club's depth is poor.
The Red Devils have already signed defender Leny Yoro from Lille and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
"The squad depth we have to catch up because we had injuries. We are vulnerable and we have to avoid this first by getting fewer injuries and second, our squad has to be that good in depth.
“The quality we have in [terms of] depth we have to catch up but even more because this season will be the survival of the fittest.”
