With a 1-1 draw in their last game, Niger Tornadoes are now on a 6-game winless streak.
In the wake of his team's extending winless streak, Niger Tornadoes striker David Okoromi has called for calm and understanding among the club's fans, pleading with them that the 'results will start coming.'
The forward was his team's goal scorer in Week 8 of the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as they played out a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
The result meant that the Ikoh Allah Boys had now gone 6 consecutive without a win, drawing three, and losing as many games.
Okoromi says team's situation not irredeemable
Speaking on Friday, after his side's training session, Okoromi stated that the results they had gotten off previous matches weren't something they wished they got.
"The result against Bayelsa United wasn't what we bargained for, but sometimes, football happens," he said to the club's media.
"The team's spirit was high before the mid-week game, it’s just that we needed a little bit of luck to get the job done, but unfortunately, luck deserted us.
"Our situation is not irredeemable, because the league is a marathon and points differences are close, we will keep pushing and keep improving until results start coming our way.
"We know the fans are not happy with our recent results, but I call on them to bear with us, soon, results will start coming, because we want to make them (fans) happy and of course our coach," he added.
Niger Tornadoes to play Dakkada next
With two wins, three draws, and three defeats in their eight games this season, Niger Tornadoes currently sit in sixth position in Group A and are four points off qualification places for the Super 6 playoff.
On Sunday, Niger Tornadoes will play hosts to Uyo-based Dakkada and hope to avoid anything but victory.
The 2023 NPFL will then after Week 9 games, embark on a three-week break as Nigeria approaches its presidential elections period.
