The two Dutch stars were among the standout performers in the Bundesliga gameweek 23 weekend.
Bundesliga gameweek 23 had some great individual performances as the 2022/2023 season enters the last quarter.
Bayern Munich stayed top on goal difference after beating VFB Stuttgart, but Union Berlin’s title hopes suffered another blow after playing out a goalless draw at home against FC Cologne.
In what was another exciting round of games, gameweek 23 lived up to expectations, with some brilliant displays from some players.
From Emil Forsberg to Emre Can, gameweek 23 had a whole lot of excellent individual displays at both ends of the pitch.
As per tradition, these players have been included in our team of the week. Here is Pulse Sports' latest addition to the Bundesliga team of the week.
Goalkeeper: Ralf Fahrmann [Schalke 04] vs VFL Bochum
Schalke 04’s upturn in form continued on Saturday after they secured an impressive 2-0 win away at VFL Bochum.
Goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann played an important role for the team yet again, with four amazing saves and three high claims in his box.
Although the win was not able to take them outside the relegation zone, Schalke will feel confident in their chances of beating the drop with Farhmann on their team.
Centre-back: Matthijs de Ligt [Bayern Munich] vs VFB Stuttgart
Matthijs de Ligt was immense at the back in Bayern Munich’s victory over Stuttgart. The Dutch international made three clearances, blocked three shots and won five of his duels.
De Ligt did not only contribute defensively, but he also contributed in attack, scoring the opening goal that set Bayern on their way to a 2-1 win.
Centre-back: Timo Hubers [FC Cologne] vs Union Berlin
Cologne secured an impressive clean sheet against Union Berlin, thanks to a good job at the back.
Timo Hubers played a key role in this feat, with six clearances, two interceptions, and one tackle to his name. Hubers was so good that he never got dribbled past in the whole 90.
Right-back: Jeremie Frimpong [Bayer Leverkusen] vs Hertha Berlin
Frimpong had one of his best games this season as Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Hertha Berlin 4-1.
The Ghanaian-eligible star played just 29 minutes but it was enough to do the damage. Frimpong assisted Sardar Azmoun for the first goal before scoring the second nine minutes later.
It is unusual to select someone who played less than 30 minutes of football, but Frimpong’s performance was too good to ignore.
Left-back: Evan Ndicka [Eintracht Frankfurt] vs Wolfsburg
Frankfurt played a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg, with Evan Ndicka playing a key role in the result.
The 23-year-old was good both offensively and defensively. Ndicka made three clearances and two interceptions before scoring Frankfurt’s second goal of the evening.
Defensive Midfielder: Emre Can [Borussia Dortmund] VS RB Leipzig
Borussia Dortmund remain neck-in-neck with Bayern after beating RB Leipzig on Friday night.
However, they have Emre Can to thank for the result. The former Liverpool man was diligent in his duties before capping off a fine performance with a goal.
Can was busy at both ends of the pitch, winning nine duels and completing 89% of his passes, including a key pass.
The Germany international ensured Dortmund went home with the maximum points with the winning goal.
Central Midfielder: Leandro Barreiro [Mainz] vs Hoffenheim
Barreiro makes the team of the week again after another exceptional display for Mainz in their 1-0 win over Hoffenheim.
The Luxembourg international showed his quality once again for the 05ers as he scored the only goal that took them up to seventh on the table.
Attacking Midfielder: Emil Forsberg [RB Leipzig] vs Borussia Dortmund
For the second week running, Emil Forsberg is included in our team of the week after yet another excellent showing for Borussia Dortmund.
The Swedish midfielder was on target again for Leipzig, although it was not enough to help them avoid defeat against Dortmund.
But it was not just about the goal, but also his all-round performance. On any other day, Forsberg could have had three assists after making three key passes and creating two big chances.
Left Winger: Marius Bulter [Schalke 04] vs VFL Bochum
Schalke 04 attackers were just as brilliant as their defenders, who kept a clean sheet. Marius Bulter ensured the clean sheet came with three points after scoring one goal and firing another shot on target.
He also completed two dribble attempts in the game as Schalke boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation.
Right Winger: Moussa Diaby [Bayer Leverkusen] vs Hertha Berlin
Moussa Diaby shows why some of Europe’s top clubs are after his services after scoring for Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.
Diaby put in a man-man-of-the-match display as Leverkusen thrashed Hertha Berlin. The France international scored and assisted another in the 4-1 win.
He also made two key passes and created one big chance to cap off a fine performance,
Striker: Dion Drena Beljo [Augsburg] vs Werder Bremen
Leading the line is Dion Drena Beljo, who scored in Augsburg's 2-1 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Beljo scored the opener with his only shot on target while he also played in one key pass, which showed his creativity in the final third.
