One of the most influential coaches in the last 20 years, Roberto De Zerbi has given updates on the futures of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister with Arsenal and Liverpool waiting in the wings
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has issued an update on the futures of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister as his team prepare to face Manchester City in the penultimate game of the season.
De Zerbi resigned to losing star duo
Brighton have qualified for European competition for the first time in the club’s history under De Zerbi, but the manager recently claimed that he could be losing some of the players who helped him achieve the monumental feat.
Speaking ahead of Brighton’s game with Manchester City, De Zerbi has noted that the match could be Caicedo’s and Mac Allister’s last home games at the Community Stadium, with the pair expected to leave the club in the summer.
He said, “City could be their [Caicedo and Mac Allister] last home game, but I don't know. They have the possibility to move because they deserve to play in another level”
Caicedo and Mac Allister top Premier League clubs’ summer wishlist
Both players have drawn interest from a number of Premier League clubs over the course of the campaign, and it appears that De Zerbi is resigned to losing one or both of his prized assets after noting that they deserve to play at a higher level given their quality.
Caicedo has been heavily linked to a move to Arsenal in the summer after being close to joining the Gunners in the summer before signing a new contract with the Seagulls.
Argentine World Cup winner Mac Allister is also on the wishlist of Liverpool, although missing out on the Champions League could push the midfielder into the arms of other suitors including Manchester United and Manchester City.
No final decision has been taken on the futures of either player, but De Zerbi’s words only fuel rumours that they could leave Brighton at the end of the current campaign.
