The Manchester City-trained midfielder swapped the Turkish Super Lig after just one season for one of Europe’s top five leagues after he sealed a season-long loan move from Hatyaspor.
After impressing with the Super Lig club, Hatyaspor and Lazio reached an agreement that will see the Nigerian star spend the 2024/25 season on loan with the Italian side obligated to make the transfer a permanent one at the end of the season.
Dele-Bashiru, who came through the ranks at English champions, Manchester City, joined Lazio in July. He has now ticked off his debut after a brilliant outing against Venezia on Sunday.
Super Eagles’s star vs Venezia
Dele-Bashiru was handed a starting berth in the new-look Lazio eleven by his new manager Marco Baroni, who also recently arrived at Stadio Olimpico himself.
However, in the game monitored by Pulse Sports Nigeria, Dele-Bashiru, who also impressed in his debut for the Super Eagles and his Lazio teammates were forced to chase the game from behind following an excellent opener from the newly promoted side.
Lazio weathered the early storm, however, and quickly turned things around as they went on to cruise 3-1 on the night with the Nigerian playing the duration of the match.
On his debut day, Dele-Bashiru put on a show after he completed 96% of his passes, created one chance and made one key pass.
He also attempted one shot, had three touches in the box, completed 100% of his dribbles, won 100% of his tackles, four ground duels and made 11 recoveries.
Dele-Bashiru has hit the ground running and will be looking to go a step further than last season when he contributed 13 goals for Hatyaspor.
