The Nigeria Women Football League champions, Delta Queens, defeated USFA of Burkina Faso 3-0 in her maiden outing in the WAFU Zone B Qualifier.
Delta Queens kicked off the WAFU B Women Champions League Qualifiers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Sunday.
The game started well for the home team as Effion-Anwan Ekeng pushed up with opening assault but failed to score after beating her markers. The game saw Nigerian Champion Delta Queens reduced to 10 men in the 58th minute.
Alaba Olabiyi did brilliantly to score the opening goal of the competition in the fifth minute, allowing Delta Queens to establish their dominance over the visitors.
Chinaza Agoh came close to doubling the advantage, but Nina Dabilgou, the goalkeeper, parried her effort away to keep the score at 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Alaba Olabiyi and Okenwa Chdera were replaced by Vera Samuel and Mercy Omokwo for a more biting assault in the second half. However, Vera Samuel was later given a straight red in the 58th minute.
Three minutes later, Chinaza Agoh connected with a cross from Mercy Omokwo to score the team's second goal, seemingly inspiring her teammates as a result of her presence.
NWFL highest goal scorer Mercy Omokwo noded home her side's third goal to seal the victory for Delta Queens.
