Football icon Diego Maradona's final resting place is set to be relocated following a formal request to Argentina's courts by his children.
Maradona, who passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60, is currently buried in a private cemetery in San Miguel, northwest of Buenos Aires.

Veronica Ojeda shared with the media that the mausoleum would be open to the public, enhancing the accessibility for those who wish to honor the legendary player.
"So that all the Argentine people and the citizens of the world can pay homage to our father who was the greatest Argentine idol," the family's statement added.

The decision to move Maradona's remains comes on the heels of the announcement last October 30 on what would have been his 63rd birthday regarding the construction of the memorial.
