The former Chelsea manager and midfielder leaves Everton 19th on the table with 15 points from 20 matches

According to multiple sources, Everton have decided to part ways with manager Frank Lampard after a series of poor results with the club.

Everton are currently 19th in the Premier League, with 15 points after 20 matches, and are in serious danger of getting relegated. In addition, the Toffees have also been dumped out of both domestic cup competitions, and it appears that there would have been no light at the end of the tunnel had the ex-Chelsea midfielder stayed on.

Lampard's record at Everton includes nine Premier League victories and 21 defeats in 38 matches at the helm.

Despite a decent run at the earlier stages of the season which saw them remain unbeaten for six games and rise to mid-table levels, Everton have collapsed and are currently flirting with relegation from the Premier League for the first time since 1951.

They have lost 11 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, and faith in Lampard to rescue them from the doldrums has been deeply eroded.

Disappointment for Iwobi

Lampard’s sacking is certain to leave a bitter taste in the mouth of Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, who has played some of the best football in his career under the English gaffer despite Everton’s general struggles.

Iwobi has held his own in Everton’s midfield and has revitalised his career in a deeper midfield role recommended to him by Lampard.

Alex Iwobi enjoyed a brilliant spell under Frank Lampard

Iwobi’s performances, especially at the start of the season were so good that he even got nominated for the September Player of the Month award which was eventually won by Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

With Lampard gone, it is uncertain whether Iwobi will continue in his new-found midfield haven or if the new manager will even have as much faith in him as Lampard did.
