Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained the reason for his hand gesture against Liverpool over the weekend.

Guardiola has struggled to get his team to perform excellently in the Premier League, and their performance in the last couple of weeks has been called into question.

The Citizens lost their fourth game of the season, a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield and dropped to fifth place in the league table.

They now trail Liverpool by 11 points in the fight for the title after suffering their fourth straight loss in the Premier League.

Guardiola explains gesture

During the game, Guardiola was seen showing the fans a hand gesture following a chant which was directed towards him.

It was reported that the Liverpool fans were chanting, “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” to the Man City manager.

The chant led to him showing them a six-finger gesture, which means he has won the Premier League six times.

However, the Spanish manager has explained why he made the gesture in a recent interview, as reported by Fabrizio on X.

He said, “Lost my cool with that gesture at Anfield? I was never cool. Do you know why I was cool? Because I won, we won.

“The people who won are so cool, so handsome, so nice. When you don’t win, it’s completely the opposite," says via @City_Xtra.

City will welcome Nottingham Forest to the Etihad and Guardiola will be looking to end his team's poor run of form with a win.
