Greenwood, 21, had been suspended from matches and training since facing charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior back in January 2022.

Manchester United has included Mason Greenwood on their retained list for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

However, sources have clarified that the club has yet to make a decision on the player's future.

Greenwood, 21, had been suspended from matches and training since facing charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior back in January 2022.

The charges were subsequently dropped in February 2023. In response, Manchester United initiated their own investigation, which is still in progress.

The inclusion of Greenwood on the retained list is seen as a reflection of his status as a contracted player rather than a definitive indicator of his future at the club.

The young forward is highly regarded for his immense talent and potential, having impressed with his performances in previous seasons.

Having signed a contract that runs until 2025 with the option of an additional year, Greenwood remains a valuable asset to Manchester United.

The club recognizes his abilities and is eager to carefully assess the ongoing investigation before making any final decisions regarding his future involvement.

Manchester United is also engaged in discussions with goalkeeper David De Gea regarding a contract extension.

De Gea's current contract is set to expire on June 30, and the club is keen on securing his services for the long term.

United are hoping to agree an extension that would see the 32-year-old significantly reduce his basic wage, but with built-in bonuses depending on the amount of games he plays.

Manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful that the experienced shot-stopper will remain with the team, although there are plans to bring in another goalkeeper to provide healthy competition for De Gea.

Jack Butland, who arrived on loan from Crystal Palace in January, has signed for Rangers but Tom Heaton will stay at United after the club activated a one-year option in his contract.

Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are among the players who have been released following the expiry of their contracts.
