Donny Van De Beek has stated that, following a challenging period at Manchester United, he believes it is time to leave the team.

The Dutch midfielder arrived at Man United in 2020 with big expectations after leaving Ajax on a £35 million transfer.

However, he has struggled to live up to the expectations which has affected his performance on the field.

Van van Beek's form and fitness have been an issue during his stay at Old Trafford and has only made six Premier League starts in more than three seasons.

The Dutchman stated that he is prepared for a fresh challenge in the fresh Year, even though he has no regrets about joining the Premier League.

Van De Beek said, as reported by Daily Mail, “I am bouncing to play matches again. The manager is making different choices now.

“We have a big squad and I am not the only one knocking on the door. We'll see in January what happens.

“I need to start playing games very soon - if not at Man United then at another club. I think I have to be ambitious.

“I have always been a lover of the game. I am absolutely crazy about football. I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day.”

Van De Beek struggled for a while before suffering a catastrophic knee injury last season, even after former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag joined the team.

Van van Beek stated that while he had no ill will towards United, it had been difficult for him not to play frequently, he thought he could contribute much to the team in a fresh setting.

On Sunday afternoon, United will visit Goodison Park to play Everton following their 10-point deduction from the Premier League due to financial rule violations.

Meanwhile, Man United could be without Mason Mount for up to one month after picking up a new injury ahead of Manchester United's tie against Everton
