Phil Foden has reportedly warned his manager Pep Guardiola after the Spaniard yelled at him during a Champions League match.

The Englishman played a role in Manchester City’s Treble win last season as they secured the Premier League title, FA Cup and the Champions League.

The England international has not been a regular in Pep Guardiola’s team but could be granted a more senior position this new season with the departure of Riyad Mahrez.

Despite being tipped to become a regular next season, Foden reportedly had an altercation with his manager Pep Guardiola over his personal development.

Foden warns Guardiola

According to the Telegraph, Guardiola yelled at Foden for not taking a free-kick the way he wanted during a Champions League match against Porto.

Pep Guardiola screamed saying, “F------ hell Phil! F------ hell! You haven't done what I said!”

Guardiola's remarks angered Foden, who retaliated against his first-team coach after the game.

Foden said as reported by The Telegraph, “Don't ever do that to me again! You wouldn't do that to other players.”

Guardiola expressed his sincere regret and requested a meeting with the player the following day to do so in front of the team.

The altercation during the Porto game was a sign that Foden had matured as a person, and Guardiola had been waiting for a sign that he was willing to stand up for himself.

The incident allowed the City manager to recognize that Foden was no longer the young child who had graduated from the club's academy and was instead growing into a man.

The Telegraph reports that Foden will have the support of boss Pep Guardiola, who was persuaded of his personal development.

Manchester City will begin their Premier League campaign against Burnley on Friday as they look to defend their league title.
