Phil Foden is not the only icon setting records in the Premier League
Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze showcased his brilliance once again, scoring a stunning goal that helped his team secure a valuable point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Eze's moment of magic in the second half ensured that Palace left with something to show for their efforts, and also helped the England international reach a new milestone.
Chelsea and Crystal Palace share spoils
The Blues started the match on the front foot and opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Nicolas Jackson finished deftly from a Cole Palmer assist.
Chelsea failed to capitalise on their first-half dominance and paid the price when Eze scored the equaliser early in the second half with a brilliant strike from outside the box.
After Eze’s goal, neither side was able to find the back of the net again, as Noni Madueke and Jackson went close for Chelsea, while Daichi Kamade spurned Crystal Palace’s best chance of the closing stages.
The 1-1 scoreline meant both sides eventually settled for the first draw in this fixture for 29 years.
Eze equals Foden after wonder strike
Eze's equaliser was nothing short of spectacular. Picking up the ball on the edge of the box, Eze curled a brilliant shot into the top corner, leaving Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez with no chance.
This goal marked Eze's fifth strike from outside the box in the Premier League in 2024, equalling the milestone set by Manchester City's Phil Foden.
Apart from the two England internationals, no other player in the Premier League has found the back of the net from distance up to five times in 2024.
Both players continue to prove themselves as the most potent threats from distance in the league, and Eze added to his growing reputation with the fierce strike against Chelsea.
