Sudanese giants El Merrikh find themselves in a similar situation; with no CAF-certified home stadium, the Red Devils have moved their CAF CL preliminary second-round tie against Young Africans to another venue.

The lack of stadiums across the African continent is biting hard on clubs featuring in the CAF interclub competitions.

Sudanese giants El Merrikh find themselves in a similar situation; with no CAF-certified home stadium, the Red Devils have moved their CAF CL preliminary second-round tie against Young Africans to another venue.

In a communication shared by Young Africans, the first leg tie to be hosted by the Sudanese side will be played at the King Pele Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.

“The second preliminary round match in the #CAFCL against El Merrikh will take place at the Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda,” a tweet from Young Africans read.

This will be the second time this season that the Sudanese side has hosted a game in Rwanda, eliminating Congo side Otoho d’Oyo on away goals rule at the Huye stadium.

Young Africans eliminated Djibouti ASAS 7-1 on aggregate over the two legs and are bidding to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time since 1998.

With the international break now on the horizon, Khalid Aucho and Gift Fred will be expected to lead ‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi when the two sides lock horns on 16th September 2023.

Young Africans made history by reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final for the first time but having lost goal machine Fiston Mayele, many will want to see how the side performs on the continent.
