Arsenal has renewed the contract of their longest-serving player, Muhamed Elneny.

The one-year contract extension of the Egyptian midfielder, signed at the start of the 2022/23 season was ending at the climax of the ongoing campaign.

Elneny has now extended his stay at the Emirates Stadium for another year until the end of the 2023/24 season.

“I am happy, I love this club and the supporters so much and I will give everything to help us be the best we can be, every day I am here,” the 30-year-old was quoted saying by the club media.

“It makes me so proud to have represented this amazing club since 2016.”

He added: “The spirit and togetherness we have in our squad right now is so positive and I am so happy I have extended my contract.”

Elneny joined Arsenal from Basel in Switzerland in January 2016 and he has stayed at the club for seven years so far ahead of the eighth.

Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding are the other players who have stayed at Arsenal for a long having joined the same year as Elneny but in May 2016 from Borussia Monchengladbach and Bolton Wanderers respectively.
