Emiliano Martinez provides insight into Lionel Messi's iconic penalty attempt against Hugo Lloris during the World Cup final.
Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has explained how he tutored Lionel Messi and the rest of the Albiceleste squad through the penalty shootout against France to win the World Cup.
Martinez was a Golden Glove-winning hero in Argentina's World Cup triumph; he not only made the famous outstretched left-foot save to deny Kolo Muani at the death to force the game into penalties, he also saved Kingsley Coman's attempt in the said shootout to help his country to her third Mundial.

Messi vs Ronaldo: I'd get the most money for myself — Gareth Bale weighs in on GOAT debate
Former Welsh international Gareth Bale played 'Start, bench, sell,' with Messi and Ronaldo.
However, Martinez was not only saving them; in a recent interview, he revealed that he also taught his team how to score them.
What Martinez said
Speaking with Ben Foster on a podcast, the former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper asked Martinez about that penalty shootout through which he won the World Cup.
He asked him specifically about Messi's unforgettable attempt, which seemed so reachable, and simultaneously, far away from Hugo Lloris, and the Aston Villa shot-stopper revealed how his input inspired that iconic spot-kick attempt.
“I talk about them, how Lloris do,” Martinez said in the pod. “How well he behaves. I said if you stop you score. I remember Jorginho against him in the Premier League.
“I think he went way too early. So I said Leo just stop and go. He will move. He won’t stay in the middle. Lloris will never stay in the middle. So it’s kind of like when I talk to my teammates in the national team, they listen. So say, at least go for one in the middle.”
Lionel Scaloni’s side will be playing to make it consecutive Copa America titles this summer, and if they are to be successful, Emi Martinez will expectantly be a crucial cog.
