Walusimbi, 24, who is one of at least ten new signings at URA FC ahead of the new season, is hoping to make it count, putting behind his short, unsuccessful spell at Scottish second-division side Peterhead FC last season.

A second chance in life is always a given; it just depends on how one uses it; for Enock Walusimbi, it’s another opportunity to make amends in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Walusimbi, 24, who is one of at least ten new signings at URA FC ahead of the new season, is hoping to make it count, putting behind his short, unsuccessful spell at Scottish second-division side Peterhead FC last season.

“I am happy to be here (URA FC), and I feel ok; I have settled in well, and the coaches and my teammates have also made it easier for me to feel at home,” Walusimbi told Pulse Sports in an interview.

“I played my first game against Soltilo Bright Stars, and I felt even better because we won the game, and we’re ready for the semi-finals against KCCA FC.”

Walusimbi played his best league football in 2021 when he captained Express FC to that season’s league title and later the CECAFA Kagame Cup; he also went on to make his debut for the Uganda Cranes after featuring for the U-23.

At URA FC, Walusimbi has been reunited with former teammates midfielder Ivan Mayanja and goalkeeper Denis Otim, a reunion he cherishes and adds will go a long way in helping him gel better with the team.

“I have many friends on the team, some I have played with at other clubs (Express FC) and the national team, so it goes a long way in helping me settle in and gel with the squad."

Enock Walusimbi will be expected to guide the tax collectors past KCCA FC when both sides square off in the FUFA Super Eight semi-final on Sunday at the MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
