Eric Kapaito targets his third golden boot, aiming to surpass Benson Omalla's lead with Tusker FC, while emphasizing the need for improvement

Tusker FC striker Eric Kapaito has openly declared his ambition to clinch a third career FKF Premier League golden boot.

With 11 rounds of matches left, Kapaito, who has netted eight goals so far this season, finds himself three goals behind the league's current top scorer, Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia.

Despite the gap, Kapaito's determination remains unshaken emphasizing the need for enhanced performance even as the league enters its crucial phase.

"I think I am somewhere, and making some effort, but I believe there is need for more improvement. I can do more," Kapaito shared.

The 28-year-old striker commitment to excellence is evident, as he continues to refine his skills and scoring ability, all in the pursuit of personal and team success.

"I am happy so far because the scoring touch is coming in well, and the best part is that the team is winning. It wouldn’t be good if I am scoring and the team is not doing well. My positive contribution is helping the team do well, and I am hoping to do more," he added.

Currently ranked fourth in the scorers' standings, Kapaito's chase for the golden boot is not just a personal ambition but also a testament to his role as a key player in Tusker's offensive lineup.

With the same number of goals as Police’s Tito Okello and trailing by one behind Bandari’s Francis Kahiro, Kapaito is focused on bridging the gap.

"As a striker, of course, your job is to score, and the chase for individual awards always gives you some motivation for the season. Winning a third would be great, and of course, I am working toward that," Kapaito notes with confidence.

Tusker are set to face a formidable opponent this weekend, AFC Leopards, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Kapaito acknowledges the impending challenge but remains optimistic about his team's preparations.

"We have been working really well and pushing each other in training this week. They have a good run, but we also have a good run, and we have been preparing for a tough game and to get three points," the striker remarked.
