Cameroon striker Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting has announced a deal to extend his contract with the Bundesliga giants until 2024.
Bayern Munich have agreed to keep Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at the club in a new deal that will see the Cameroon striker remain at the Allianz Arena until 2024.
Earlier on Wednesday, reports in Germany revealed the 33-year-old was set to stay with the Bundesliga champions for another year.
But now the striker has himself confirmed the deal via a post on his Instagram page.
Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting announces new Bayern Munich deal
Chuopo-Moting took to his social media to post a short clip, showing his agreement with the Bavarians in a new deal that will see him receive a significant pay raise, until 2024.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, March 3, he wrote in one post: ‘Definitely a good day today ! Let’s go @fcbayern’, alongside photos of himself posing with the Bayern Munich jersey with his name and the number 2024.
In another he wrote: 'Happy to continue the journey @fcbayern'
Speaking to the club's official website, Choupo-Moting said he never had any intention of leaving the club.
He said: "I'm super happy to be staying longer and continuing to have lots of fun with the club.
"I feel very much at home here. My family also feel at home in Munich. That's a very important point for me. I'm obviously pleased I can help the team so much.
"I get on really well with the guys, we work hard on our goals. The competition is big, but when you want to be among the best, that's part of it. It's the only way you can win lots of titles.
"And we've still got big plans. The whole package is right at FC Bayern. There's no reason to change anything."
Chuopo-Moting Form & Goals 2023
Following the departure of Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2022, many were skeptical about the Cameroon international’s to fill the pole’s big boots.
However, the 33-year-old striker has made the most of the opportunity, lead Bayern’s attack so far this season.
He is currently Bayern’s third highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga, behind Jamal Musiala (11), and level on goals with Serge Gnabry(9).
Although he has a total of 15 goals and four assists to his name in all competitions this season.
The striker is expected to return for the defending champions on Saturday, March 4, when they travel to play Stuttgart.
A win for Bayern would see them maintain their grip at the top of the summit, in what is looking like a serious title race in Germany this campaign.
