Ethiopian powerhouse St. George have expressed huge interest in securing the services of out-of-contract SC Villa captain Gift Fred.

This is the latest interest for the Uganda Cranes after reports earlier linked him to Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC and Vipers SC.

Sources close to the player have indicated that talks are ongoing with St. George and that the player will make a decision in the coming days.

The player's camp has also stressed that Gift is not ruling out a stay at Villa, as he's happy with the club's latest project and wants to lead them to a renaissance.

However at the moment, there's no concrete destination for the player, as he continues to assess his options.

Gift was colossus last season as he captained the Jogoo to third in the league, having amassed 53 points in 28 matches.

He played all but one of the league matches as he was deployed both in central defender and defensive midfield by former head coach Jackson Magera.

Having earned his first competitive senior cap for the Uganda Cranes this month against Algeria in an AFCON qualifier, Gift is among the nominees for the defender of the season.

Meanwhile, St. George have won thirty Ethiopian Premier League titles in history.

The team is on course for a 31st, as they top proceedings with 60 points, six ahead of their nearest rivals Bahir Dar Ken with two games to play.

They are home to Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago who joined them over two years ago from KCCA FC.
