However, he has a new role playing as a number ten, a position he thrived in on Tuesday as Maroons FC beat Arua Hill 2-0.

In the same game, he scored and picked up the man of the match award.

“I am happy with the performance because I am now playing as a number ten as opposed to my holding midfielder role, and it comes with responsibility,” he told Pulse Sports.

“I have to create for the strikers and try and score, so I am happy it started well for me.”

Mohammed Ssenfuma’s side have had a perfect second-round start, and they are unbeaten since the turn of the new year, picking up three wins and a draw in the four league outings.

“We are now focused on our next game against KCCA FC, we won the first leg at home, so we’re motivated to complete the double. The desire to stay in the league keeps us afloat,” he noted.

Maroons currently sit sixth on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log on 25 points after 23 games played.

Abel Etrude joined the prison side for a second stint in January after two years at Express FC, where he won the Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame Cup. He has also previously featured for Onduparaka FC.
