Etrude started out at Maroons before stints at SC Villa, Onduparaka FC and Express FC but it’s with the Red Eagles where he won silverware, winning the Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame cup in 2021.

Fall down once stand up ten times more they say and Abel Etrude is doing exactly that at Maroons FC.

The holding midfielder who joined the prisons' side on a six month deal has been recovering from a recurring muscle injury which kept him out for the better part of his last two seasons while at Express FC.

Etrude says he is happy to be back on his feet at a club he calls home.

“Maroons is the club where I started my career, I have been out for a while from when I was at Express FC," Etrude told Pulse Sports before he added.

"I really needed a comeback so for me this was the best option because it’s close to me, they allowed me to use their facilities when I was rehabilitating.”

Asked what he thinks needs to be improved on at Maroons after a first round that saw the club blow hot and cold, Etrude emphasized that self-belief will be key.

“Currently we have a lot of young talented players which is a positive but they will have to believe more, talent is not enough that’s for sure, I am optimistic the group will come good in the second round," he added.
