Now managed by Napoli’s Serie A-winning manager from the 2022-23 season, Luciano Spalletti aims to navigate a tricky group comprising Spain, Croatia and Albania. However, Carragher does not expect the Azzurri to have a successful title defence.
“I think this will go to the last game, but I’m going to go for Spain to top the group and Croatia second. I will go Italy, then Albania,” said Carragher to The Telegraph.
“If there’s so many points taken off each other, Italy might not even go through in third.”
What comes next?
Italy begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Albania on June 15 before games against Spain and Croatia to close out Group B.
