France’s captain Kylian Mbappe began his reign as leader of the national team with a brilliant brace in the 4-0 win over the Netherlands in the UEFA European Championship qualifier, and in the process reached a new career milestone.
Mbappe becomes France’s fifth-highest top scorer
Mbappe scored France’s third and fourth goals against the Netherlands in a record-breaking win and also set a new record with the national team in the process.
Mbappe’s brace saw him score the 37th and 38th goals of his international career, which took him past former teammate Karim Benzema to become France’s fifth-highest goal scorer of all time.
