Ronaldo on World Cup and Euros
Ronaldo told RTP3 that he believes his accomplishments are on par with those of Messi, following the scoring of his incredible career's 900th competitive goal.
According to Fabrizio on X, Ronaldo said after Portugal’s win over Croatia, "Portugal winning the Euros is the equivalent of winning the World Cup.
“I've already won two trophies for Portugal that I really wanted, so I'm not motivated by that [World Cup]."
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was a member of the Portuguese team that defied expectations to win the Euros in 2016.
Ronaldo had an injury in the competition final and had to leave in tears, but he helped his teammates overcome it by stepping up to teach alongside manager Fernando Santos.
Ronaldo also captained his country, Portugal, in lifting the UEFA Nations League trophy in 2019.
However, Messi also inspired Argentina to the World Cup trophy in 2022, which allowed him to win an eighth Golden Ball.
