Bendel Insurance are currently top of Group A with six points, after two games.
Ahead of their game week 3 clash with table-toping Bendel Insurance at Lekan Samai Stadium on Sunday, Kwara United boss Azeez Mohammed has insisted his side will ‘fight for three points’ when they face the Group A leaders.
The Ilorin club are one of the sides yet to pick up a win after two games in the 2023 NPFL season. Goalless draws against Gombe United and Shooting Stars also mean that the Harmony Boys are yet to score a goal this season.
Heading into game week, they sit 6th in Group A.
Every team has their Achilles heel - Mohammed
On Sunday, the Ilorin club will take on Bendel Insurance at their temporal home ground in Ibadan, with the hope that they not only score their first goal of the season but also pick up their first three points.
Contrary to Kwara United's position, Bendel Insurance leads in Group A with six points from a possible six, and Mohammed has insisted his side will be the newcomers' downfall.
“Every team has their Achilles heel,” the Kwara United boss said in an interview with Futbalgalore. "They are a complete team who are effective in every area of the pitch, but we are in a good mood and we must use that.
"We go into the game knowing what it means to have lost your first two matches. We don’t want to go play with pressure. We will fight for the win, that’s for sure.
“It’s going to be a tough encounter. Our intention, whoever we play, is to win.”
Tough games across Group A in game week 3
Game week 3 of the NPFL 2023 see will see heavyweights Enyimba head to Jos to tackle Plateau United, while second-placed Remo Stars will welcome Shooting Stars to Ikenne in what will be a Southwestern Derby.
Other matches in Group A will see struggling 2021 champions akwa United visit Nasarawa United in Jos.
After picking their first win of the season, fourth-placed El-Kanemi Warriors welcome Gome United to Maiduguri.
