Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha has explained why Nigeria tends to produce more talented strikers than defenders and goalkeepers.
Jay Jay Okocha has noted that the current crop of talent bursting through for Nigeria is populated with more offensive players, than defensive.
Superstar forwards such as Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi, Gift Orban, Kelechi Iheanacho, Terem Moffi, and Akor Adams have been thriving across different European leagues.
The notable success of Nigerian strikers has prompted inquiries into the reasons behind their prevalence and accomplishments relative to other positions in football.

Jay Jay Okocha on why Nigeria produces strikers like Osimhen and not top defenders
Speaking at a Bundesliga media round table, Okocha shared his perspective on Nigeria's prowess in cultivating successful strikers,
“I will say football is part of our culture in Nigeria. And every kid in Nigeria wants to be a goalscorer.
They want to be noticed. They realized that maybe the offensive midfielders, players, and strikers are the ones that get noticed more than defenders. And maybe because of nature.
Also, the fans might have a hand in it, because we don’t forgive defenders if they score an own goal but we can forgive strikers.” he added.
