Brazilian midfielder Fabinho is already a fan favourite at Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad just two weeks after he left Premier League club, Liverpool.
Brazilian midfielder Fabinho is already winning over fans in Saudi Arabia just weeks after he switched from England.
After joining champions Al-Ittihad, Fabinho became another superstar to leave the famous Premier League for the Saudi Arabia Pro League.
Fabinho in Saudi Arabia
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder became the latest player to leave Liverpool after compatriot Roberto Firmino, who left the Reds as a free agent.
He put pen to paper on a three-year deal that will see him play for Ittihad until the summer of 2026.
The club confirmed the transfer through their social media accounts as Fabinho’s move ended his five-year romance with Liverpool.
“The signing is part of Ittihad’s efforts to reinforce the team with outstanding players, who will support their journey in the upcoming phase which includes multiple domestic and international competitions,” the club said of Fabinho’s signing.
Fabinho, who played 219 games and scored 11 goals for Liverpool, joined an Ittihad team that had already signed former Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema and Chelsea’s legend N’Golo Kante.
Fan love for Fabinho
Following his move to the Saudi Arabian club and presentation to the fans, Fabinho finally debuted against Al-Raed in the Pro League.
The defensive midfielder proved to be a valuable addition as the champions thrashed their hosts 3-0, with Fabinho outstanding in the game.
After the game, the midfielder was gifted a beautiful Rolex watch by a fan who was impressed by his performance.
In a video posted on X.com by Alaa Saeed, the Brazilian looked shocked by the gesture from the fan.
Fabinho was on the pitch for 89 minutes before he was subbed off and was applauded by the fans.
He completed 93 per cent of his passes, 100 per cent of his dribbles, played nine passes into the final third, completed three of four attempted long balls, won 100 per cent of his tackles and made eight recoveries.
