Ex-Liverpool star blames 'disastrous' onana after Man United draw at Galatasaray

Cameroonian shot-stopper Andre Onana has once again come under fire, this time for his awful performance against Galatasaray.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has come under heavy criticism from a former player of the club, Robbie Savage, and an Ex-Liverpool star, Stephen Warnock, for his dismal performance against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Onana was in the frame for at least two of the goals the Red Devils conceded, as they led a two-goal lead slip twice to draw 3-3 against the Turkish side at Rams Park, hampering their chances of making the next round of the UCL.

In the eleventh minute, Alejandro Garnacho gave the visitors the lead, which Bruno Fernandes doubled seven minutes later. Just before halftime, though, Hakim Ziyech responded for the home team.

Scott McTominay extended the team's lead to two goals for the second time in the game on the 55th-minute mark, but goals by Ziyech in the 62nd and Kerem Akturkoglu in the 71st minute tied the game.

What they said

Speaking on BBC Radio, former Liverpool defender Warnock, who made 67 appearances for the Reds, tagged the Cameroonian’s performance as disastrous.

Savage, who came through the ranks at Manchester United, went further, saying the former Ajax man was terrible in goal.

“That is terrible goalkeeping—two errors for me. There is a lack of balance. The manager will be scratching his head,” he said, per the BBC.

"There are a lot of question marks in the way they are going about things. They have scars from throwing away leads and [that is] hard to get rid of."

Meanwhile, Manchester United first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana has emerged as the highest-rated goalkeeper in the Premier League.
