With Kylian Mbappe set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, David Ginola has called for him to be replaced by Victor Osimhen.
Mbappe informed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his planned departure at the end of the season after joining the French champions in 2017.
The World Cup winner joined PSG on loan initially before making the deal a permanent one the following season. The 25-year-old has won five league titles with the Parisians and is on course for a sixth this season.
However, with PSG set to lose their star man, there are already plans on how to move forward without him. Manager Luis Enrique is giving the attacker fewer minutes compared to the start of the season, while the club are already looking for a replacement.
One name that has come up several times is Napoli forward Osimhen, as he is also set to leave the Italian side this summer despite signing a new deal.
Ginola sees Osimhen as the ideal Mbappe replacement
Ginola, 57, played for PSG between 1992 and 1995, appearing 158 times for the club while scoring 44 goals.
The ex-PSG player believes Osimhen is the best option to replace Osimhen on the French side. While speaking to Canal Plus Sport, a French TV channel, he pointed out the qualities that Osimhen possesses, making him the ideal replacement for Mbappe.
“He would be a good choice. He is a player that isn’t set up in the same way at all [compared to Mbappe]. He is more athletic, he has pace, but less than Mbappe,” he said.
“He is the best Nigerian forward. With PSG looking for an Mbappe replacement, I think he could be the ideal solution,” he added.
However, PSG could face stiff competition for the Nigerian’s signature from Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. With a €110 million release clause reportedly included in Osimhen’s new deal with Napoli, It makes the deal easily achievable for Les Parisiens.
