Super Eagles' Talented Squad: A Double-Edged Sword
Despite the pool of talent at their disposal, the Super Eagles have faced their share of challenges. Since José Peseiro took the helm, the team has encountered difficulties in clinching victories in matches that appeared winnable on paper.
A particular area of concern has been finding a reliable goalkeeper. Francis Uzoho, despite his potential, has been prone to costly errors, casting doubts over his dependability in crucial games.
Rohr Backs Uzoho for Redemption
Gernot Rohr, speaking with Osasu Obiayiuwana, shared his views on Nigeria's prospects and the goalkeeping dilemma. "Nigeria is one of the favourites, of course. I saw the list. So many great players and [with] experience.”
“The strikers are fantastic; they need stability to be complete," Rohr stated, highlighting the team's strengths and the need for consistency. Addressing the goalkeeping issue, Rohr remains confident in Uzoho's abilities: "Uzoho will do well."
Nigeria, drawn in a group with Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and hosts Ivory Coast, will commence their quest for glory on January 14.
